Bilaspur, June 29:

In a major breakthrough against organised recruitment fraud, Bilaspur Police on Saturday arrested three individuals for orchestrating a Rs 43 lakh scam by falsely promising government jobs to a city residentтАЩs children. The accused had taken the money over several months, assuring postings in departments like Food Safety, Tribal Welfare and Revenue, without any formal selection process.

The arrests come under the direct supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajnesh Singh (IPS), who ordered swift action following a detailed inquiry. The case was cracked by Takhatpur Police under the guidance of Additional SP (Rural) Archana Jha and SDOP Kota Bharti Markam, making it the first such instance in Bilaspur where the complainant himself-who paid the bribe-was also arrested along with the fraudsters.

According to officials, the accused have been identified as Vishnu Prasad Rajput (67), resident of Nigarband, Takhatpur;
Seema Soni (29), resident of Vinoba Nagar, Civil Lines
and Suryakant Jaiswal (55), originally from Barela, presently residing in Sakri.

A fourth accused, Javed Khan alias Raja, is already incarcerated in a separate case (FIR No. 355/25 at Civil Lines Police Station under Section 420 IPC).

The investigation began after Suryakant Jaiswal filed a complaint, revealing he had paid the accused Rs 43 lakh in multiple instalments from February 2022 to June 2023. The money was allegedly to secure Class III-level government jobs-Food Inspector, Hostel Superintendent and Patwari-for his two sons and daughter. However, police investigations found no legitimate recruitment process was followed and that both parties were engaged in illegal dealings.

тАЬThis is not merely a fraud-itтАЩs a direct attack on the principles of fair recruitment and an insult to the thousands of aspirants who rely on merit and due process. We are committed to bringing such criminals to justice,тАЭ SSP Rajnesh Singh said, condemning the growing trend of black-market job syndicates.

A formal FIR has been registered at Takhatpur Police Station (Crime No. 330/24) under Sections 420 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code, and the arrested trio have been remanded to judicial custody. The complainant, too, was arrested for attempting to obtain jobs illegally by bypassing state-regulated examinations.

The police have termed this case a тАЬlandmark operationтАЭ in the crackdown against systemic recruitment fraud and have urged citizens to avoid underhand dealings in pursuit of public sector employment.

Further investigations are underway to trace any administrative enablers or political connections facilitating such rackets.
